CNC application

This CNC polishing machine uses linear guides from igus® for the x-axis (radius). The y-axis (angular rotation) is ensured by rotating the drive unit and the vertical z-axis consists of an igus® linear guide. The unit is used to produce positive forms for the subsequent manufacturing of plastic bowls, which are used in the area “Prosthetics”. Body sections of patients are 3D scanned and the form is built via computer. The following milling process generates the positive polyurethane sample. A polar stream optimally works out the forms. Very fine dust occurs during this step, which does not allow the use of conventional recirculating ball bearing guides. Products from igus® are perfect for such kinds of environments and they additionally succeeded in its precision.
